The rise of the Canadian real estate developer is an example of how the real estate market has evolved over the years. In the early 1990s, John Daniels, an immigrant from Poland, began building homes while studying architecture. In 1983, Daniels founded Daniels Corp., transforming an abandoned Goodyear Tire factory into luxury condos. In 2010, he gave $20 million to the University of Toronto architecture school and $24 million to hospitals in downtown Toronto.

Mizrahi has been active in the Toronto real estate market for over a decade. He has developed some of Toronto’s most iconic skyscrapers. His most famous development, “The One” in downtown Toronto, is a high-rise condominium. However, Mizrahi’s charitable activities are extensive. He is a founding member of B’nai Brith Canada, a Jewish-American nonprofit organization, and the Canadian Society of Jewish Women.

Another Canadian real estate developer is Sam Mizrahi, an Iranian-born Canadian. His company, Mizrahi Developments, Inc., and Mizrahi Enterprises, are active in Toronto. He is perhaps most famous for developing the One skyscraper. The Mizrahi corporation also manages a number of other corporations. In 2016, Toronto Life named him the 45th most influential person in Toronto.
